American Airlines
About:
American Airlines and American Eagle operate, on average, more than 3,400 daily flights in more than 40 countries. Their operations are substantial—on a typical day, they fly more than 275,000 passengers, receive more than 239,000 reservation calls, and handle 300,000 pieces of luggage.
American Airlines is also one of the largest scheduled air freight carriers in the world, providing a wide range of freight and mail
services to shippers throughout its system onboard American's passenger fleet.
Industry:
Transportation / Airlines
Project Introduction:
E-Learning Website for Flight Attendants. Innate Media Group has been working with American Airlines on a project that educates their Flight Attendants on various products they offer to their customers during their flights.
Problem:
American Airlines needed a way to integrate their intranet account logins for their flight attendants to access a third party website only available to AA. They had to host the website on a third party
server since they couldn’t host it on their network and needed specific IP addresses to access the site.
Technology:
Front end: Adobe Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver (xHTML/DHTML with CSS)
Back end: Java Script, XML, PHP, MySQL, Linux, Wordpress
Solution:
We utilized a custom IP authentication script that bridged the flight attendants account when logged in on the Intranet, and then identified the IP address to access the third party website.
Our approach:
At first this seemed like an easy task to only allow certain IP’s to access a third party website. After doing research and some developed we found that the task would not be as easy as we thought. We had to
consult AA on the right solutions to do exactly what they wanted but at the same time be extremely secure and not accessible to anyone.
Result/Benefits:
American Airlines has won numerous awards from USA Today, Business Traveler and Global Traveler since this project was launched roughly a year ago and has been prided on their superiority in the industry of wine serving.
Duration:
We have been working with American Airlines since 2009.
